When I was in school we had this poem that someone had given to us on display. It was on a laminated piece of cardboard with a yellow background and a bright and shiny sun smiling at you.
I used to read it every time I went pass it and it just made me smile every time. I liked it so much that I wrote it down on a piece of paper and put it in my file to just keep with me forever. I reached a point where I'd read it so often that without realising it or intending, I'd managed to remember the poem and would just say it to myself from memory.
When I moved to university I had it up in my room and it would just encourage me to be more cheerful and positive (and we all know I'm not the most positive person around, I need all the good vibes I can get hehe). Over time though I forgot about it. Moved back home. The poem had been long since gone (no idea where to). And I just didn't think about it anymore. Until the other day I was walking around with a stupid smile on my face and it just popped into my head. And made me smile even more. I was so surprised that I still remembered it! I was one or two words off, but on the whole I was pretty spot on.
So anyhoo, just though it would be nice to share. And maybe give you a reason to smile today.
Smiling Is Infectious
Author Unknown
Smiling is infectious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner
and someone saw my grin.
When he smiled I realized
I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth.
A single smile, just like mine
could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected.
Let's start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!
